About the Farm:
Grown by the Entre Rios cooperative in San Marcos, Guatemala, these beans are cultivated using organic practices that honor both the land and the farming families who tend it. The cooperative's commitment to sustainable agriculture ensures every harvest maintains the highest environmental and ethical standards
Founded in 2009 by a group of smallholder farmers, Cooperative Entre Ríos was built on a shared commitment to collaboration, quality, and long-term sustainability. After initially operating within a larger organization, the group made the pivotal decision to become fully independent in 2018.
The warmest of the eight coffee-growing regions, San Marcos also has the highest rainfall pattern, reaching up to 200 inches (5,000 mm). The seasonal rains come sooner than in other regions, producing the earliest flowering. As in all of Guatemala’s remote regions, most of Volcanic San Marcos is cultivated on farms with their own processing mills. Because of the unpredictability of rainfall during the harvest season, much of the coffee is pre-dried in the sun and finished in a Guardiola dryer.
